Planning has been underway since the 2015 RC Laser National Championships and now it’s official – the 2016 RC Laser National Championships will be held at Yarrawonga in Victoria over the weekend of September 17 and 18. Yarrawonga Yacht Club has been welcoming and extremely helpful in organising the 2016 RC Laser National Championships. The National Championships are open to all sailors registered with a club. 2016 RC Laser National Championship Schedule of Events
Frank Katers from PLRMYC has kindly offered to PRO the event. Mario Gulic has also offered to be assistant PRO for the event.
Friday 16th September – Social practice sailing 1100hrs – 1600hrs
Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th – we may need to extend racing times until twilight given that we aiming for 2 fleets. Start and finish times will be announced closer to the event.
Saturday night – buffet-style dinner at the yacht club for $25 pp for competitors, family and friends. Drinks can be purchased at the Yacht Club bar.
Yarrawonga Yacht Club staff will cater for breakfast (bacon and eggs, cereal, toast, tea or coffee etc) $10. Lunch is included for competitors and officials. Family and friends are welcome to join in the Club lunches which can be pre-ordered $8 (salad rolls of chicken or ham and salad, soft drink, tea or coffee) before 10am.
Accommodation for Competitors and Families
The Yarrawonga township is historic and has plenty of accommodation and a great country feel. There are several house rentals within walking distance to the Yacht Club and the heart of the town is around 2-3 km away.
Camping is available on the Yacht Club grounds and fees are $10 per person or family per night. Included is five x four-outlet 240v power terminals (20 powered sites, unlimited non-powered sites), 24-hour club access for kitchen and toilet facilities. Bookings should be made with the Yarrawonga Sailing Club.
Other accommodation, including holiday rental units/apartments, bed and breakfast, hotels/motels, caravan parks, resort style and even house boats are located close by, some within walking distance to the club or within 1-5km.

For interstate competitors flying into Melbourne airport, Yarrawonga is a 272 km drive that will take around 2 hrs 45min.
